Epson still blinking or printing blank after a waste ink reset — causes and fixes

You just reset the waste ink counter, but the Epson still blinks two red lights, or now prints blank pages? These are two different situations that both come up after a DIY reset. Still blinking after reset — why?

Wrong counter reset: the machine has several counters (main pad, platen pad) — reset the wrong one and it still reports the error. Reset the matching counter.
You used the 80% trial: the counter is still nearly full, so it errors again quickly — take it to 0% with a full key or the right tool.
Hard-locked chip box (C9345): software cannot clear the chip counter — see hard-locked box; the box/chip must be handled.
Blinking from another fault: paper jam or out of paper — not a waste ink error at all. Tell the light patterns apart in two red lights blinking.

Prints blank after reset — causes

Clogged printhead / dried ink: common on printers left idle — run head cleaning a few times, then a nozzle check.
Empty ink or air in the lines: check the tanks; re-prime if the ink flow is broken.
Transport valve/lock not released (CISS): if the valve is closed, ink cannot flow.
A counter reset does not affect print quality — so blank output is an ink/printhead issue to fix separately.

Quick self-checks

Print a nozzle check to see which colour is clogged.
Run head cleaning 2–3 times, re-testing between runs (don’t overdo it at once).
Check ink and valves — tanks not empty, transport valve open, no broken ink flow.
Confirm the right machine — a hard-locked chip model needs the box/chip, not just a software reset.

Usually the wrong counter was reset, the 80% trial was used, the model uses a hard-locked chip box, or the lights are blinking from another fault (jam/out of paper). The correct counter must be reset or the hardware handled.

A counter reset does not affect print quality. Blank output is usually a clogged printhead, empty ink, air in the lines, or a closed transport valve — clean the printhead and check the ink flow.
