A laptop that won’t detect Wi-Fi is one of the most common problems we see in Ho Chi Minh City — and the good news is that most of the time it’s a software fault, not a broken part. A corrupted driver or a wrong Windows setting can make the Wi-Fi icon vanish, hide every network, or cause the connection to keep dropping. Those fixes are quick and inexpensive. Sometimes the cause is hardware — a Wi-Fi card that has worked loose or failed, or a damaged antenna wire in the display panel — and we replace only what genuinely needs replacing. Whatever the cause, we inspect first, give you an honest recommendation in plain English, send a written quote, and you pay only once your Wi-Fi is working again.

Wi-Fi symptoms we fix

No Wi-Fi icon at all

The Wi-Fi icon is missing — you only see a computer icon or an “X”, and Windows acts as if there’s no wireless adapter.

Icon shows but no networks

The Wi-Fi icon is there but no networks appear in the list, so there’s nothing to connect to.

Can’t connect or keeps dropping

Networks are visible but the laptop won’t connect, or it connects and then disconnects again and again.

Weak signal up close

The signal is weak even when you’re sitting right next to the router.

Phone works, laptop doesn’t

Your phone connects to the same Wi-Fi with no trouble while only the laptop can’t — a classic sign the fault is on the laptop.

What causes it

Software: driver or Windows settings

A corrupted Wi-Fi driver or wrong Windows network setting. This is the most common cause — and the quickest and cheapest to fix.

Wi-Fi turned off by accident

Wireless switched off with an Fn key combination or Airplane mode left on by mistake.

Loose or failed Wi-Fi card

The internal Wi-Fi card has worked loose in its slot or has failed and needs reseating or replacing.

Damaged antenna wire

The antenna cable that runs up into the display panel is disconnected or damaged, so the card can’t pick up a signal.

How we fix it — our 5 steps

1
Check settings & driversWe check the Windows network settings and reinstall the Wi-Fi driver — the fix for most cases.
2
Inspect the Wi-Fi cardWe open up and check that the internal Wi-Fi card is seated and connected properly.
3
Check the antenna wiringWe inspect the antenna cable running into the display panel for damage or disconnection.
4
Replace the card if neededIf the Wi-Fi card has failed, we replace it with a genuine/OEM-grade part.
5
Quote on the real faultWe quote based on what we actually find, get your approval, then finish and test it.

Frequently asked questions

That usually means the fault is on the laptop, not the router — most often a corrupted Wi-Fi driver or a Windows setting, sometimes a loose Wi-Fi card or a damaged antenna wire. We check the software first because that’s the most common (and cheapest) cause.
Usually not. Most Wi-Fi issues are software — a driver or settings fix — which is quick and inexpensive. Only if the internal Wi-Fi card or antenna is faulty do parts come into it, and we always quote before doing that.
Yes. We communicate in clear English by phone, Zalo or WhatsApp to explain the fault and the price before any work. For Korean and Japanese customers our staff also use Google Translate to make sure everything is understood.
Both. We do on-site visits across Ho Chi Minh City — District 1, 2, 7 and beyond — and for deeper repairs we offer free pickup and delivery to our workshop.
Always. We inspect first and give an honest recommendation on whether to repair or replace, then send a written quote. We only start after you approve it, and you pay only once it works.
Yes. A missing Wi-Fi icon (just a computer icon or an “X”) usually points to a driver or adapter issue, or a Wi-Fi card that has worked loose or failed. We diagnose which it is and fix or replace as needed, with a warranty.
